Gravitational Waves

So, I don’t want to be a nerd, but today is kind of a big deal in the science world. This morning, scientists reported that the Laser Interferometer Gravity-Wave Observatory (LIGO) detected universal gravitational waves resulting from two distant (distant like 1.3 billion light years away distant) massive black holes (each about 30 times as massive as the sun) colliding and causing gigantic waves moving at the speed of light throughout the universe. Pretty sweet, huh? This discovery confirms even more of Albert Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. If you get a chance to check out the LIGO centers in Washington and Louisana, then look them up on the internet. They are pretty cool, and very expensive research centers.
